Annual Recertification Requirements
The Georgia Firefighters Standards and Training Council requires each Georgia firefighter demonstrate proficiency in all of the following areas: Emergency Medial Care, General Firefighting Skills, Communications, Fire-ground Operations, and Prevention and Preparedness.

Medical Training
The State of Georgia and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians set requirements for the certification and recertification of Georgia's Emergency Medical Technicians

Hazardous Materials Training
Marietta Firefighters are trained at least to the level of Operations in Hazardous Materials. A number of personnel choose to go on to the levels of Technician and Specialist.

Recruit Training
The Marietta Fire Department provides a comprehensive and intense recruit school. Once an individual successfully completes the hiring process, he or she enters into a five-month program that encompasses both fire and emergency medical training.

Technical Rescue Training
Beyond the scope of basic Fire Operations are several advanced rescue techniques often referred to as Technical Rescue.
