How do I bid on a city solicitation?
After you've identified a solicitation or project you'd like to bid on and picked it up the bid package from the Purchasing Division or the Proposals and bids page, then follow the instructions in the bid package.
4.
What disqualifies a bid?
You should read the specification document very carefully and follow all instructions. This is the best way to keep from having your bid disqualified. Late bids are automatically disqualified. In general, bids and RFPs/RFQs can also be disqualified for the following reasons:
- Lateness
- Missing information and/or signatures.
- Submitting photocopies instead of originals.
Please note that this list is provided as a guide and should not be considered all-inclusive. For more information, please call the Purchasing Division at 770-794-5699.
5.
What if I don't live in Marietta or Cobb County?
If you don't live or work in Marietta or Cobb County, you may call, write or e-mail, and we will send you the bid documents you want. We will mail the documents to you or, if you prefer, you may arrange at your expense to have your documents picked up by a courier service of your choice. If you provide us with your Federal Express or UPS account number, we will send your documents that way as well. For more information, please call the Purchasing Division at 770-794-5699.
6.
When are bids opened?
Bids are opened and read publicly at the time and date indicated within the bidding documents. Bids and proposals received after the hour and date indicated for the opening will not be considered. The public is invited to attend all bid/proposal openings held in Marietta's Purchasing Division at City Hall.
Submitters of RFPs/RFQs are announced publicly at the time and date given in the RFP/RFQ documents.
Please note that late bids and/or RFPs/RFQs may not be accepted.
For more information, please call the Purchasing Division at 770-794-5699.
7.
Which ones should I bid on?
If you see a project that corresponds with the commodities or services you can provide, the bid or proposal documents can be picked up in the Purchasing Division. For more information, please call the Purchasing Division at 770-794-5699.
8.
What can I do to be more competitive on future city projects?
Competition is the key to insuring the city is paying the fair market value for goods and services. This is why we release the bid results for projects that were solicited under sealed bids ONLY AFTER the contract has been awarded. We offer all contractors, if requested, a debriefing on projects that were awarded using a request for proposal (RFP) or a request for bids (RFB).
9.
How can I do business with the City of Marietta?
If you are a business owner or independent, you should first register your business at
Vendor Registration.
10.
