Bruce Coyle has served on the Marietta Board of Lights and Water since 2002 and has worked as the county engineer for the Paulding County board of commissioners since 1986, where he is responsible for planning, development and permitting. Coyle is currently focused on water, sewer and storm issues at the Paulding County Public Works Department.
Coyle was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and his father served in the military, so their family has lived in places including Germany and Alaska. Coyle began his 28-year career as a wastewater plant operator in the water and sewer systems department for the city of Augusta after high school. While there, he married his wife, Anne. They moved to Marietta in 1976, and he worked full time for the Cobb County Water and Sewer System while attending college full time.
Education
Coyle earned his Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering technology from Southern Polytechnic State University in 1980. He became a Georgia professional engineer in 1990 and holds a number of Georgia licenses pertaining to water and sewer issues. In addition, he has worked for several consulting engineers, including Welker and Associates of Marietta. He is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), Georgia Society of Professional Engineers (GSPE), Water and Environment Federation (WEF), Georgia Water and Pollution Control Association (GW&PCA), and AMMA.
Family Life
Bruce and his wife have 2 grown sons. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, canoeing, and Marietta High School football.
