MARIETTA - On Wednesday, May 10, 2017, the Marietta City Council and the Marietta Police Department recognized graduates of the Inaugural Marietta High School Police Academy during the Council meeting.
The Marietta Police Department created the Marietta High School Police Academy to continue building relationships with Marietta’s youth. Participants had to submit a background check and have a grade point average of at least 3.0 or higher to be eligible for the hands-on style academy. Participants were chosen after the Marietta Police Department received recommendations from the school resource officers at Marietta High School.
The four week academy, included a SWAT demonstration, Crime Scene Investigation, K9 Demonstration, and traffic stop and officer response scenarios.
