The fourth year of the successful Farm Fresh Market campaign is due to launch May 13th. The Farm Fresh Market is a mobile farmer’s market aimed to increase access to fresh fruits and vegetables to designated Cobb County residents that lack access to a free standing grocery store.
The Farm Fresh Market is an initiative of Cobb2020 which is a partnership of community organizations and individuals dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles and the delivery of essential health services in Cobb County. The efforts of the initiative aim to improve the health and wellbeing of the residents by providing healthier food selection options and increasing healthy eating habits.
Thanks to the generous support provided by the Cobb County Non-Profit Grant and the Food Well Alliance Grant, the Farm Fresh Market will be able to expand its timeframe for the 2017 season and operate from early May into September. Another exciting change for this year is that the market will be able to offer 100% locally grown fruits and vegetables thanks to a new partnership with The Common Market.
Last year the market provided over 13,000 pounds of fresh produce to over 1600 community residents in limited food access areas. With the planned expansion efforts this year, the market is hoping to far exceed those numbers.
The Farm Fresh Market will begin on May 13th, 2017 and will be open on Saturdays to serve the Austell and Marietta communities in Cobb County until September. The market be open at the following locations at the specified hours of operation:
