With terrorism incidents around the world there is a growing concern of “What can citizens do to help prevent these incidents?” and “What should they do once in the middle of an incident?” The Marietta Police Department is taking a step forward and providing information to our community of what to do in these types of situations. Although there is no active threat to the Marietta community the police department is aware of the growing concerns with safety.
“What should they do once in the middle of an incident?” The Marietta Police Department invites you to attend an upcoming seminar on March 15th, 2017 on how to react if you find yourself in the middle of an incident. The seminar is an FBI based class called “Citizen Response to Active Shooter Events.” The class will be held at the City of Marietta Council Chambers located at 205 Lawrence Street. The seminar will be beginning at 6:30pm. Attendees will receive instruction about how to prepare for and respond to being trapped inside a building during an active shooter event. There are several simple steps that those can take to assist law enforcement response and limit the number of potential victims accessible to the shooter.
