MARIETTA - The City of Marietta's 2016/2017 Management Development Program will host a 5K Shamrock Shuffle on Saturday, March 18, 2017 on the Marietta Square benefitting the Marietta Police Athletic League.
This event will raise money to support the Marietta Police Athletic League's (PAL) new Youth Boxing Program with needed supplies and equipment. The event will kick off at 8:00 a.m. and will include St. Patrick's Day themed fun such as a costume contest. Awards will be given for top qualifiers in each race age group. This is also a qualifying AJC Peachtree Road Race event so serious competitors are welcome.
About the Management Development Program
The MDP consists of twenty-five members of staff from various City departments and divisions that are in a supervisory or management role. The City has offered this program at various times throughout the past 20 years. It is facilitated by the University of Georgia's Carl Vinson Institute of Government. Successful completion of the class requires participants to finish a project in which every member has an active role and brings value to a chosen community organization. The benefitting organization is the Marietta chapter of the Police Athletic League (PAL).
About the Marietta PAL Program
The Marietta Police Department began the Marietta Police Athletic League (PAL) chapter in 2007. Marietta PAL is a non-profit organization whose mission is to prevent juvenile crime and violence by providing civic, athletic, recreational and educational opportunities which create trust and build understanding between law enforcement and youth.
