MARIETTA - On Thursday, June 22nd, 2023, at 6pm, the Marietta History Center will host an evening lecture featuring newspaper icon, journalist and historian, Neely Young. Mr. Young will be discussing his latest publication, Georgia Made: The Most Important Figures Who Shaped the State in the Twentieth Century.
Neely Young is well known as the former CEO of Morris Newspaper Corporation, Southern Publishing Co. and as the Co-Owner, former Publisher, and former Editor-in-Chief of the Georgia Trend Magazine. His newest book highlights the men and women who hauled Georgia up from its poor, agrarian roots, making it among the most diversified, prosperous states in the country. They fought for freedom and served from the state and White House. They excelled at sports, founded institutions that shaped countless lives and inspired through art and lives lived artfully. –Georgia Made Books will be available for sale and Mr. Young will sign them after his presentation.
At the Marietta History Center our mission is to ignite curiosity in Marietta’s history by connecting people through compelling stories and engaging experiences. Current Temporary exhibits includes a traveling photography exhibition highlighting Black Vietnam Veterans from Georgia & “Marietta 1899: Color Captured in Black & White” which was produced in house at the Marietta History Center.
