MARIETTA — The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre will present the  musical Smoke on the Mountain this September 9-18. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at

Rollicking, exhilarating, and charmingly funny, Smoke on the Mountain features two dozen rousing bluegrass gospel songs played and sung by the Sanders family. Set in North Carolina in 1938, Smoke on the Mountain follows the Sanders Family Singers’ comedy of errors as they perform at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church's Saturday Night Gospel Sing and reveal their true – and hilariously imperfect – natures. Audiences will laugh, sing, and fall in love with the charming Sanders family in the show the New York Post called, "Totally beguiling... foot-stomping soul food."

This production marks the return of the creative team behind The Strand’s popular 2019 production of Smoke on the Mountain and the recent Forever Plaid production in May.

The cast of 2022’s Smoke on the Mountain at The Strand includes Kinsey Bosher (Denise Sanders), Cobin Bugni (Dennis Sanders), Jeff Cooper (Burl Sanders), Erica Lloyd (June Sanders), Shane Murphy (Stanley Sanders), Keenan Rogers (Mervin Oglethorpe),  and Vickie Zuffoletti (Vera Sanders).

The creative team includes Cindi Costoulas (Director), Manda Costoulas (Assistant Director, Production Manager), Ben Perkins (Technical Director), Judy Cannon (Costumer), Drew Lloyd (Audio Engineer), and Johnny Gravley (Set Construction).
