MARIETTA – In light of National Fire Prevention Week, October 3-9, 2021, the Marietta Fire Department would like to remind citizens of some very important and useful information if you ever find yourself in the midst of a fire.
The 2021 Fire Prevention Week’s safety campaign is, “Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety.” This message seeks to educate everyone about the small but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe.
Is there a beep or a chirp coming out of your smoke or carbon monoxide alarm? What does it all mean? Knowing the difference can save you, your home, and your family! Make sure everyone in the home understands the sounds of the smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and knows how to respond. Learn the sounds of your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms by checking the user guide or search the brand and model online.
For more information, please view the National Fire Protection Association’s flyer on how to learn to differentiate between the sounds of your alarms and how to better educate your family on what those sounds mean.
