MARIETTA - The City of Marietta is once again pleased to be named to another national list recognizing its place as a top city in America, this time by Forbes.com.

Forbes quoted a new realtor.com housing market report which revealed the top suburbs that offer the most affordable space near the nation’s 10 largest metro areas. This list entitled, “Top 10 Suburbs With More Space for The Money,” placed the City of Marietta at number four, the only city in Georgia to receive this designation.

Forbes states, “It’s not just more space, but more space at a good price. Value is really the driving theme. On top of that, these are all really great areas where you actually would want to live, with outdoor amenities, cultural amenities or good schools, things that make living in an area enjoyable or desirable. Home buyers increasingly are looking to less densely populated areas.”

The top suburbs that offer the most affordable space were identified by analyzing list prices and median price per square foot for single-family homes within 25 miles of the 10 largest metros. Marietta came in at number four on the list and one of only two cities in the Southeast to make the cut.

“We are honored to be featured on a list detailing the top ten suburbs which offer the most affordable space near a metro area,” said Mayor Steve Tumlin. “We have always known our City has everything Atlanta has to offer, but in a better and more affordable package. We are just a short drive to the metro but have many outdoor amenities that big city living doesn’t provide. Our school system is second to none and our sense of community and togetherness combined with our citizen engagement and diversity make Marietta a community where people want to live and raise their families.”
