MARIETTA – The City of Marietta is pleased to announce that it has launched its own website for the 2020 Census to help better engage the community and ensure a complete count of all the City’s residents.
The City’s 2020 Census website has detailed information about the benefits of a complete count. Marietta benefits from federal, state, and local government polices which are contingent on our population count. These policies support our community’s general local government services like public safety, parks and recreation and more. A complete count in 2020 will ensure Marietta maximizes the benefits of the Census including equal representation for all people in the community.
Accurate Census data directly impacts families, children, and senior citizens. A complete count will help people in our community receive benefits like Headstart early childhood education, school breakfast and lunch programs, Medicare, Medicaid and other healthcare assistance, and housing and food assistance.
Additionally, by ensuring an accurate count Marietta can secure much needed federal funds for infrastructure projects. Did you know that in Marietta, each year over $15.6 million in funding for roadways, housing and general operations is tied directly to the Census count?
