MARIETTA – Marietta Power and Water is pleased to join over 2,000 community-owned, not-for-profit electric utilities, and many more municipal water and sewer systems, in recognizing October 6-12, 2019 as the annual public power and clean water appreciation week.
Clean water week is a time to reflect on the importance of protecting our water resources. For more than 110 years, Marietta Water has delivered safe and clean water as well as prompt and courteous service. By protecting our water resources from pollution and properly maintaining our infrastructure to prevent and repair deficiencies, we can protect our city from the problems that many other communities currently face.
“It’s really very simple.” says Ron Mull, General Manager of Marietta Power and Water. “We provide our own power and distribute water TO our community FOR our community. Our power is generated in a cooperative relationship with other Georgia utilities and purchased as a group with 48 other Georgia cities. So, we are always happy to explain to our customers that we do own our own power generation. Additionally, we like to explain that that local control helps keep our rates competitive and our local presence allows us to provide quick service in an outage.”
Marietta Power and Water’s almost 200 employees serve more than 45,000 industrial, commercial and residential power and water customers. During the week, visitors to the Marietta Power and Water administrative building can enjoy snacks and giveaways. Customers are also again invited to a Customer Appreciation Hot Dog Cookout Lunch in front of the main building on Friday, October 11!
