The Marietta Cobb Museum of Art is pleased to host the 6th Annual Chalktoberfest on October 12-13, 2019 on the Marietta Square. The event will host 86 national and international professional chalk artists, public chalk competition, craft beer festival, live music, and activities for the whole family. Chalktoberfest, the signature event of the Marietta Museum of Art, will celebrate its 6th year in 2019.
Led by Executive Director, Sally Macaulay, Chalktoberfest has seen exponential growth over the years with over 100,000 attendees in 2018. This unique event enables the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art to fulfill its mission of “Building Community through Art,” and the response from the community has been overwhelming. In addition, Chalktoberfest has won numerous awards including Festival of the Year by Cobb Life Magazine, the Mayor’s Art Award for the city of Marietta, and Event of the Year through Cobb Travel and Tourism.
In 2019, Chalktoberfest will feature artists from Italy, Serbia, the Ukraine, the Netherlands, Argentina, Mexico, and 18 states in the United States. The Marietta Square is transformed into a massive art studio where artists dazzle spectators from 10AM to 5PM during the two-day event. There will be a large number of award winning and established professional artists who bring the street to life with their large-scale paintings. In addition to the incredible art on the street, Chalktoberfest will have the annual Craft Beer Festival only on Saturday October 12th from 12 to 5. Tickets for this portion of the festival are on sale beginning August 1, starting at $35. Over 125 craft beers and 25 wines will be available for unlimited tasting with purchase of a ticket.
MCMA encourages guests to visit local restaurants, sample food trucks, check out the antique cars, visit vendor tents, and talk to professional artists from around the world as they create their masterpieces. Live music fills the square all day Saturday and Sunday featuring bands such as The Riot, Paradocs, Grace Milton, Brother Whitlock, Kelly Taylor & The Make Goods, Carlton Kell, Michael Zaib and Petros.
On Sunday October 13th beginning at 11AM, Chalktoberfest kicks off the Creative Kids Activity Area featuring craft making and face painting for children of all ages. Additionally, there will be a community, non-professional Chalk Competition (ages 6 and up) with Youth, Teen, School, and Adult Divisions. Winners will be announced at 3:45PM. (Areas are available for Children under 6 to chalk). The professional chalk area will be available to view until 8:00 pm Sunday night.
