MARIETTA - The Marietta Arts Council will present its second annual arts festival, Mountain to River Trailfest, on Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm along the Mountain to River trail.

The M2R Trailfest will celebrate public art with an all-day festival featuring a variety of art installations including fine art, photography, sculpture, live performance, and the return of the popular mural exhibit.

The 2018 M2R Trailfest Chair, Bonnie Reavis, reflects, “Last year's opening of the Mountain to River Trail signaled a new chapter for Marietta. The first annual M2R TrailFest — a two-mile immersive celebration of the arts — revealed the city’s largest public art initiative to date with large scale murals, a sculpture garden, performance artists, and musicians. Community response has been overwhelmingly positive and the economic impact on travel and tourism has been undeniable. We are excited to bring TrailFest back this year, and we can't wait to celebrate the many visual and performing arts assets the city has to offer. We are fortunate to have great support with the Marietta Visitors Bureau and City officials as we expand our efforts throughout our town.”

The opening ceremonies for the 2019 M2R Trailfest will be held at Atherton Square at 11:00 am, followed by ongoing music performances at Lewis Park until 6:00 pm. Pop-up performances and art installations will be featured along the trail throughout the day until the closing ceremonies at Brown Park at 6:30 pm.

Artwork installations will begin in the weeks leading up to the event. The Marietta Arts Council currently has applications for artists of all varieties to be a part of the M2R Trailfest, including but not limited to musicians/bands, dancers, sculptors, performance artists, acrobats/tumblers, as well as the return of the fine art and photography fence gallery.
