Anytime of day or night we can get a glass of water to drink, take a hot shower or wash a load of clothes. Water is an essential building block of life. It is more than just essential to quench thirst or protect health; water is vital for creating jobs and supporting economic, social, and human development. Today, across the planet, there are over 600 million people living without a safe water supply close to home, spending countless hours walking to distant water sources, and coping with the health impacts of using contaminated water. World Water Day is a day to remember how fortunate we are and to seek ways we can help others in need.
