MARIETTA – Sam Skelton and the GSO Jazz! will return to the Strand Theatre on the Marietta Square to present “UnReel!” Always a great favorite, this toe-tapping performance at 8 p.m. on February 23rd will celebrate music of film and television.
The ultra-talented GSO Jazz septet will perform jazz adaptations of such themes as Mannix, Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood, and Star Wars, giving the audience a chance to enjoy beloved and relatable music thorough the ever popular lens of jazz.
“Familiar music, electric performers, and the historic Strand Theatre, what else could you ask for? GSO Jazz! @ the Strand is always a great time” said GSO Music Director Timothy Verville.
The February 23rd performance will present the GSO Jazz! in the intimate combo form, as a septet known for playing jazz standards, swing, and contemporary compositions. Bandleader and saxophonist Sam Skelton has recorded with Elton John, Matchbox 20, Train, and The Ohio Players, among others. GSO Jazz! is part of the Georgia Symphony Orchestra organization.
The Strand Theatre is located at 117 North Park Square on the Marietta Square. Tickets are $28 for adults, and $10 for students.
