MARIETTA - Let Georgia Metropolitan Dance Theatre (GMDT) take you on an enchanting journey with characters from around the world in The Nutcracker. Make this classical ballet the perfect staple to your Thanksgiving holiday. Whether you’re seeing it again, or for the first time, The Nutcracker is pure magic. A magician brings dolls to life, a Nutcracker and his toy soldiers battles a Mouse Queen and the Sugar Plum Fairy takes you on a journey through the delectable Kingdom of Sweets.
The story comes to life with dazzling costumes and special effects, including falling snow and a Christmas tree that grows. Be swept away by original choreography set to Tchaïkovsky’s iconic music with over 150 local company dancers, ranging in age from seven to eighteen, who train at Georgia Dance Conservatory on the Marietta Square. Professional dancers D Patton White as Godfather Drosselmeyer and Alex Barros as the Cavalier join our cast.
