MARIETTA - The Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art is now showcasing two new exhibitions: Dylan Pierce’s Legacy of Hope: Studies in Africa and Alfred Conteh’s Visions of a Cultural Commentator. These exhibits will run until June 17, 2018.

The Board of Directors have chosen to implement a "shadow" system for the initial season by letting the girls follow around a Senior Board Member before letting them be in charge of specific duties on their own. Dylan Pierce if a Marietta native who is currently working and living in Atlanta. Pierce has been painting for over twenty years. He studied at the diDomizio Art Center for ten years. Legacy of Hope: Studies in Africa are pieces inspired by his travels to Swaziland, Botswana, and South Africa. His sensitive renderings evoke the majesty of wildlife and the strength and spirituality of African natives. Alfred Conteh’s is an Atlanta artist. Conteh’s exhibition depicts his evolving methods and themes throughout his career through realistic portraiture and symbolic abstraction. His work aims to expand understanding of the dynamic and complicated Black American experience. The pieces generate a deeply emotional and topical conversation.

The opening reception for both exhibitions was on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Opening receptions are a benefit of museum membership.
