World Water Day

For most of us, first thing in the morning when our eyes are barely open, we are reaching for water to take a shower, brush our teeth or make some coffee. Here in the U.S. it can be easy to take for granted the access we have to safe drinking water and the sanitation our wastewater collection system provides.

Did you know that...
*Close to 1 billion people on this planet do not have access to safe drinking water.
*Over 2 billion people around the world do not have access to basic sanitation services such as toilets or latrines. *Everyday 1,000 children die due to preventable diseases related to waterborne illness (dysentery, cholera, typhoid).

World Water Day is a time to reflect on the importance and value of water. We are so fortunate to have safe, abundant and inexpensive drinking water available at our fingertips. This is a foundation of our economy here in the U.S. and the modern society in which we live.
