The Marietta Police Department will host a Civilian Response to Active Shooter Event seminar on Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Marietta Marietta Performing Arts Center located at 1171 Whitlock Avenue Marietta, GA 30064 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Partnerships are still forming and other agencies may participate. Our goal is two-fold:
- Gather as a community to commemorate everyone touched by the tragedy that occurred in Las Vegas one week prior.
- Educate the public on how their actions in an event like Las Vegas can help first responders end the event with as few casualties as possible.
CRASE (Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events) is a nationally recognized program where law enforcement officers present best practice methods that were developed by Texas State University and the FBI. Our own Marietta City Police Officers have taken ALLERT (Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training); their version of the same course, taught by the same instructors.
We hope you will choose to join and bring our community together. When a tragedy like Las Vegas occurs, average citizens can find themselves wondering what they can and should do if they have the misfortune to find themselves in the midst of an active violence event. This gathering is the place to bring your questions and concerns. Together we are stronger than any one individual...
Attendees will receive specific instructions on how to prepare for, as well as how to respond if they find themselves in the middle of an active shooter event.
If you know the best steps to take, YOUR actions can help first responders protect the innocent and limit the number of casualties.
PLEASE register now through Event Brite (following link) and attend Monday night October 9th.
