MARIETTA – The City of Marietta is in the final stages of constructing its newest trail, the Mountain to River (M2R) Trail. The bridge connecting the trail over the South Loop will make its way into the City on Monday, September 18, 2017 and result in road closures beginning at 7pm.
Partial closures of the section of South Marietta Parkway (South Loop) between Atlanta Street and Powder Springs Road will begin at 7pm on Monday, September 18th with a full closure of the section at 9pm until the bridge is set in place.
More than 15 years in the making, the Mountain to River trail stretches from Kennesaw Mountain, continues through the Marietta Square, and ends at the City limits on Atlanta Street. It serves as the backbone for future growth of Marietta's planned trail system which will connect resident pedestrians and cyclists from across the City of Marietta. Even better, the Mountain to River Trail will connect separated trail systems from across Cobb County.
