MARIETTA - We have the important role of preserving everyone’s story here at the Marietta Museum of History. However, the complete story of Cobb County and Marietta cannot be told if we do not have documents & objects that showcase everything from simple photographs of the average person or family to unique local events & traditions. We strive to have artifacts that represent all walks of life so we have created a five day event to accomplish just that. “Diverse Cobb” will span from July 10th-15th 10am-4pm at the Marietta Museum of History which is located at 1 Depot Street, Marietta, GA 30060. We are looking for photos and objects from residents of Cobb County and Marietta but our mission will not be successful if the word is not spread.
This event is unique because donors will have the option to have their photos scanned and returned to them or they can permanently donate their photos to be securely housed in our archives! You may also bring items that fit our Museum’s mission and relate to Cobb’s diverse history such as old businesses, schools, churches and community members for inclusion into our archives. If you have non-paper objects that cannot be scanned, we will be accepting permanent donations of these artifacts which are tax deductible. Everyone is welcome to donate photos or objects and your history will be preserved for generations to come! For more information, please view the flyer.
The Museum uses ordinary objects to tell the extraordinary stories of Marietta and Cobb County’s rich history and culture. Galleries and exhibits cover topics such as military history, home life throughout the centuries, technology and local businesses from our past. Current exhibits include Shoppin' Southern Style: Fashions from the mid-20th Century and More Than Planes: Aviation in Cobb County.
