MARIETTA – The 2017 Summer Reading Program Kickoff Party at Switzer Library, 266 Roswell Street in downtown Marietta, is Saturday, June 3rd from 5 p.m. to 7 pm. The library will be full with families enjoying games, music, storytelling, dancing and crafts.
“Build a Better World” is the slogan for the 2017 Summer Reading Program (SRP) as Cobb County public libraries promote reading together and exploring Construction, Architecture, Design, Engineering and Creativity. The June 3rd event will feature a preview of this year’s summertime at the library including events supported by community partners.
SRP programs at the Switzer Library are offered for all ages, including story time for children, workshops on design, architecture, photography, storytelling and crafts; and thought-provoking discussions for adults on the 2017 SRP themes.
Upcoming SRP 2017 events at the Switzer Library include:
Summer Family Movies featuring Saturday screenings starting at noon on June 10th through July 29th.
Family Game Night will happen every Monday evenings from 5 pm to 8 pm from June 5th through July 23rd. The program will feature an organized game for the first hour and family board games and puzzles for the remaining two hours of the evening.
1000 Books B4 Kindergarten Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, July 8th from 2 pm to 4 pm. Children and families will join in celebrating reaching the 1000-books early literacy milestone.
A Touch a Truck event on Wedneday, July 26th from 3 pm to 5 pm with vehicles and personnel from Marietta Police, Marietta Fire, Marietta Power and Water; and Cobb County DOT sharing how they support the community.
