Digging Safety

Know what's below. Call before you dig, every project, every time.

Risky assumptions about whether or not to have utility lines marked can be dangerous. It is a good idea when digging to call before you begin your project - even small projects like planting trees and shrubs. Find out if utility lines are underground.

The depth of utility lines varies, and there may be multiple utility lines in a common area. The call and the service are free.

Digging without calling can disrupt service to an entire neighborhood, harm you and those around you, and potentially result in fires or repair costs. Call 811 before you dig to get your underground utility lines marked for free and help prevent undesired consequences. In the state of Georgia, if you plan to dig with mechanized equipment, it is the law to call before you dig. Call at least two business days before you begin any type of digging.
