The seven-member Council is the legislative and policy body for the city, charged with providing overall leadership of the city by enacting laws and allocating city resources for programs, services and activities. The Mayor, who is elected, presides over all Council meetings. Each Council member is elected "at large" by the public to represent all residents within his or her ward.
