Scammers are contacting Marietta Power and Water customers claiming that their check payments have been returned and that their account is now past due. The scammers then ask customers to provide their credit card information over the phone immediately stating that their service will be disconnected if they do not comply.

Please know that Marietta Power and Water representatives do not contact our customers by phone regarding past due bills, and you should never comply with any request for information over the phone. Area law enforcement is aware of the scam and is working with Marietta Power and Water officials to resolve the problem.

If this should happen to you, get as much information from the caller as possible and contact the Cobb County Sheriff's Department at (770) 499-4600 so we can continue to cooperate with law enforcement.
