Access Keys

Access keys are helpful to keyboard users in order to jump to pre-defined sections or pages of the site. Windows users: press the ALT key plus the access key character (it may also be necessary to press the enter key). Mac users: press the CTRL key plus the access key character. In addition, the access key legend below is included on each page of the City's site.

Standards Compliant

Each page of our site was built and validated in XHTML 1.0 Strict. Our pages also use structured semantic markup for superior portability. All visual elements of the site are styled with CSS.

We believe our site meets or exceeds Section 508 standards set forth by the federal government.

Images

All images on the City of Marietta's Web site included alternative text descriptions using the "alt" tag.

Links

All links to pages and information open in the current browser window for easy navigation using the browser's back button. Some circumstances, such as enlarging a photograph, do open in a new browser window; however, the "title" attribute warns of this.

Javascript

Minimal Javascript has been added only to enhance the user experience and functionality of our Web site. Javascript can be disabled by the browser without affecting basic features.
