Real estate agents announced today that Atlanta-based Diplomat Companies has purchased the Holiday Inn at 2265 Kingston Court off Delk Road near Interstate 75 and plans to redevelop the property into one or two hotels. The hotel was damaged by fire January 16, 2006.
"We're excited a buyer has committed to redeveloping an important gateway into Marietta," city manager Bill Bruton said. "The new hotel will mean more places for visitors to stay and bring additional jobs and revenue to the city."
Teague Hunter, executive vice president of Hunter Realty Associates, worked on the sale of the property to Diplomat Companies, which operates 10 hotels in the Southeast plus related businesses in travel, commercial insurance, real estate development and hotel software.
