Metro Atlanta governments tour Marietta's redevelopment
6/12/2007

More than 40 staff members from metro Atlanta governments toured redevelopment efforts in the city of Marietta June 12 in conjunction with the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC).

Marietta hosted the tour to showcase the city's progress of new redevelopment projects downtown as part of a quarterly economic development meeting of the ARC.

Within one-half mile of the city's historic Square, Marietta is replacing 496 rental units with 906 new owner-occupied homes priced between $250,000-$700,000. Developers are creating 195,000 square feet of restaurants, shops and office space within next three years.

Citywide, over $344 million in private investment is underway at 12 redevelopment projects in Marietta, up from only $8 million from 1993-2003.
