City of Marietta Applies for Community Choices Grant
A collaborative effort is currently taking place to develop a concept to transform Franklin Road in the city of Marietta into a Global GreenTech Corridor.  With support from the mayor and City Council, Marietta's Office of Economic Development applied to the Atlanta Regional Commission for a Community Choices Implementation Assistance Grant.

The Atlanta Regional Commission is a regional planning and intergovernmental coordination agency for metropolitan Atlanta cities.  The Community Choices Implementation Assistance Grant aids local governments in their quality growth initiatives by providing the necessary tools, technical assistance and resources to implement their unique vision for their community.  Marietta is seeking direction from the Atlanta Regional Commission in developing a "green overlay district" zoning code that will encourage both green technology businesses and employment opportunities to locate on Franklin Road while transitioning it into The GreenTech Corridor of the future.

Grant recipients will be notified on March 27, 2009.
