Marietta Water operates and maintains:
- 230+ miles of water pipe
- 2 water storage tanks
- 3 water pump stations
- 18,000 water meters
Along with repairs to water main leaks and breaks and other reactive work orders (over 700 calls each year), the Distribution Division performs many planned activities to maintain service and water quality. All water valves are exercised on a planned basis to assure operation when needed in an emergency. All tanks and pump stations are routinely inspected and maintenance is performed as needed.
All of our 18,000+ meters are replaced, or tested and repaired and set intervals. Meter maintenance and
repairs is critical to reducing unbilled water. Water mains are routinely flushed to maintain water quality.
In addition, we have a capital improvement program designed to replace infrastructure when it is no
longer reliable.
