Sewer Development Fees

Sewer Development Fees (SDF) is a fee collected by Marietta Water to fund the maintenance and expansion of the sanitary sewer system. The Marietta community is continuing to develop vacant property, as well as redeveloping property for new usage. The development in our community creates a need for rehabilitating existing sanitary sewer and upgrading sewer mains in order to adequately collect the wastewater produced by the community.

The SDF was adopted and implemented by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners in 1987. Marietta Water along with nine other municipalities entered into an intergovernmental agreement with Cobb County to collect the Sewer Development Fees within the guidelines as designed by Cobb County. The majority of the funds collected are forwarded to the County, as they collect all of the wastewater from the City for treatment. Marietta Water retains a portion of the funds for wastewater system expansion and rehabilitation.

To determine the calculation of the Sewer Development Fees, see the Water and Sanitary Sewer Installation Fees.
