Serving on the Marietta Board of Lights and Water since 2001, Dr. Harlon D. Crimm is the President and COO of Chattahoochee Technical College, the largest technical college in Georgia. During his tenure, the college has expanded to four campus sites with an enrollment of over 6,000 students.
Dr. Crimm earned his B.S. in Business Education, and his Master's in Education Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi. He received his Educational Specialist in Education Administration at Georgia State University and his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Georgia.
Some of Harlon's organizational affiliations include: Member of Georgia's Technical College's Presidents' Association - currently serving as the association's President, Chair of the International Committee of the GTC Technical Colleges President's Association, Member of Rotary Club of Marietta, Member of the American Association of Community Colleges, Board Member of the American Council on International & Intercultural Education, Member of the Metro Atlanta Regional Education Services, Member of Board of Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education, Member of the Broadcast Education Association of the National Association of Broadcasters, Member of the National Council of Marketing and Public Relations, Member of the American Association of Community Colleges Homeland Security Network, Member of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Youth Science and Technology Centers, Member Chair of the Cobb Education Consortium, Member of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce Chairman's Club and CEO Roundtable, and Leadership Cobb alumnus.
During his career, Dr. Crimm has received various personal and professional recognitions. Some of them include: Recipient of the Cobb Executive Women's Glass Ceiling Award for 2005. This award recognizes individuals who have promoted the advancement of women's careers. Recipient of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations Pacesetter Award for 2004. This national award recognizes individuals who have exhibited exemplary leadership and support of public relations and marketing. Recognized by Resolution of the Georgia State Senate in 2004. Named one of 50 notable Georgians for 2004 and 2005 by Georgia Trend magazine. Recipient of the Cobb County Bar Association's Liberty Bell Award in 2001.
Having served in the Army and Air Force Reserve, Colonel Crimm retired from the military on July 31, 2000. Among the numerous decorations and awards received throughout his military service and upon his retirement, he was honored with the distinguished Legion of Merit, and also presented with an award acknowledging his commitment to duty, his exemplary professional conduct, and outstanding contributions to the Air Force National Security Emergency Preparedness Agency. This award, recognizing sustained service excellence, has been named in Colonel Crimm's honor, and will be awarded annually to a qualifying Officer for his/her distinguished service to AFNSEP.
He and his wife, Dr. Jo Ann Crimm, have two grown children, two granddaughters and one grandson. Dr. Crimm is a member of Marietta First Baptist Church. His interests include collecting antiques, collecting sports memorabilia, and international traveling.
