Serving on the Marietta Board of Lights and Water since May 2002, Bruce has been employed as the County Engineer for the Paulding County Board of Commissioners since 1986. His responsibilities there have included planning, development and permitting, but his current focus is at the Public Works Department on mostly Water, Sewer and Storm issues.

Having a father who served in the military, he has lived in such places as Germany and Alaska and was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Bruce began his 28-year career in Water & Sewer Systems right after high school, working for the City of Augusta, Georgia as a Wastewater Plant Operator. It was there that he married his wife Anne. They moved to Marietta in 1976 where he worked full time for the Cobb County Water & Sewer System while attending college full time.

His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Technology from Southern Polytechnic in 1980. Bruce became a Georgia Professional Engineer in 1990 and holds a number of Georgia licenses pertaining to Water & Sewer issues. In addition, he has worked for several consulting engineers, including Welker and Associates of Marietta. Professional affiliations or organizations of which he is a member include the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), Georgia Society of Professional Engineers (GSPE), Water & Environment Federation (WEF), Georgia Water & Pollution Control Association (GW&PCA), and AMMA.

Bruce has two college-age sons Benjamin and Andrew. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, canoeing, MHS football and wrestling. He also participates in Boy Scouting activities with his son.
