Traffic Operations

The Traffic Operations Division is responsible for installation and maintenance of traffic signals, signs, and pavement markings. Traffic flow and incidents are monitored at the Traffic Control Center via 15 closed circuit video cameras. Additional duties include design, installation, and maintenance of the fiber optic backbone connecting 80% of the traffic signals and all the CCTV devices to the Traffic Control Center, maintenance of the 900 Mhz data radio and legacy copper wire system for 14% of the signal system. Our signs and markings personnel provide traffic control for the 4th of July Parade, and many of the functions on the Square requiring detours and temporary restricted parking.
