Purpose

The Cobb County Senior Games were started primarily as a celebration of "May is Older Americans Month," with events scheduled in late April and the first two weeks in May.

The purpose of the Games is to provide adults 50 and older an opportunity to participate in a variety of sports competitions, meet new people, learn new leisure skills, and become more aware of recreational opportunities available to them.  Many of our athletes have become tough competitors in the Georgia Golden Games and have continued on to national competition.

With the graying of the baby boomers, we are planning and preparing for the continued growth and development for our program. The senior population is getting "younger," healthier and more active. We are happy to be at the forefront of that trend!

Events

Events offered during the Senior Games include track and field, tennis, golf, swimming, billiards, bowling, bocce ball, horseshoes, shuffleboard, basketball free throw, checkers, clock golf, Frisbee and football throw, table tennis, and fishing. The program is kicked off with an Opening Ceremony Luncheon with entertainment. The grand finale is an Awards Picnic with barbecue and all the trimmings. The events take place at variety of locations throughout Cobb County.

Awards
Gold, Silver and Bronze medals are awarded to 1st, 2nd, 3rd place winners in men's and women's divisions. In golf, a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place are awarded for Calloway System and low gross in men's and women's divisions.
