May-retta Daze

May-retta Daze is an annual, two day Arts and Crafts festival held the first weekend in May. The festival draws artists
and craftspeople from many southern states, as well as local Georgia artists. In addition to a wide variety of arts
and crafts items, the festival also includes children's activities and free entertainment on the stage.
2012 Event Information
The show setting is at Glover Park in the Historic Marietta Square. The Square is the home of many antique and specialty
stores, excellent restaurants and interesting things to do.

Museum just off the Square in the historic Kennesaw House.
- The Marietta Fire Museum is located just 2 blocks from
the Square on Haynes Street. The museum houses historical fire equipment and several older vehicles including the
1879 steam powered engine, the Aurora.
- The Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art is also located just off the Square. The
museum has an excellent permanent collection and hosts traveling exhibitions. An exciting new addition to the
square is Scarlett on the Square, Gone With the Wind Museum and a gift shop. The museum is home to a wonderful
collection of movie memorabilia.
- Marietta is conveniently located about 25 miles north of Atlanta on I-75. Take exit 263 to the 120 South Loop. Turn
right on Atlanta Street and the Square is 4 blocks on the left.
General Participant Information
All work must be made and displayed by the artist . No preformed ceramics, imports, or
wholesale items for resale will be allowed.
Accepted entrant's fees are non-refundable. Jury fee and four photos (including one overview of
the display and one of the artist and their workshop) must accompany application. All previous
participants are required to send photos as well.
Participants must provide their own tables, tents, etc for their booth set up.
Booths must be weighted to minimize the possibility of damage during inclement weather.
All applicants will be notified of the jury's decision approximately two (2) weeks after the deadline.
Accepted applicants will receive their booth number and layout of the festival two weeks prior to the
show.
All displays must be set up and all cars removed from the festival area by 9:30 AM on Saturday. Vehicles
may not be brought into the festival area until the end of the show. This is for the safety of shoppers
and exhibitors! Anyone not following these instructions will not be allowed in the show again.
Set-up can be either on Friday night between 6:30 PM and 9:30 PM or Saturday morning from
6:00 AM to 9:00AM.
Specific set up times will be provided in your booth space letter. Booth space letters will be sent to
exhibitors at least two weeks before the show.
The exhibitors are responsible for collecting and paying for Georgia taxes and any other taxes.
Security will be provided Friday and Saturday night, but the City of Marietta will not assume any liability
for losses or damages.
MPRD reserves the right to reject or remove from the show any work it considers unsuitable.
Collecting names for a mailing list is permitted.
All photos become the property of Marietta Parks, Recreation & Facilities.
A signed application constitutes a commitment by the exhibitor to participate and follow all festival rules.
Application Procedures and Fees
Complete and sign the application form.
Do not write in the "for office use" section.
Choose the category that you wish to enter and your booth space size. Please
understand that once your application has been submitted and the show layout started, it may not be possible
to change your booth size or location.
Please submit 4 photos, no slides. Digital computer copies are acceptable.
Photos should show one overview of the display, one showing you at work and your studio/work area and
two of your art/craft.
Enclose your check made payable to the City of Marietta or provide eligible credit card information. A
charge will show up on your statement as a charge to Marietta Board of Lights and Water. Fees will be
processed and deposited as received. A deposited check does not mean that your entry has been accepted.
Withdrawals should be made in writing and must be received by April 1 to be eligible for a refund.
Application deadline is March 2nd. Applications may be taken after this date if space is still available.
Jury Information
The jury will be made up of members of the Arts Community, show organizers and representatives of the
Marietta Business Association. The jury committee will meet on or around March 7. Selected artists
and craftspeople will be notified of the jury's decision by March 19.
Acceptances, non-acceptances will not be discussed on the telephone.
All correspondence on this matter must be in writing.
Jury decisions are based on your application information and photos.
