Confined Space Rescue Team Uses New Squad in Training

In December 2007, the Marietta Fire Department took ownershipMFD Squad 55 of a custom heavy rescue truck.  The 2007 Rescue Vehicles of Iowa (RVI) sits on a Spartan chassis and is equipped for various technical rescue activities.

The 20’ Squad 55 boasts a 30,000 kilowatt generator, a light tower, and hydraulic rescue tools.

The Marietta Fire Department serves nearly 62,000 residents and approximately 7,300 businesses in 22.78 square miles. According to the 2000 Census, the daily population increases to over 97,000 when non-residents commute into the City of Marietta.

Fire personnel respond frequently to the highways that pass through Marietta. In 2005, according to the Georgia D.O.T., the number of vehicles that traveled daily on I-75 between I-575 and the South 120 Loop was approximately 250,000.
