Marietta City Council
The governing body of the city of Marietta is the City Council that establishes local law and policies through enactment of ordinances and resolutions. The Council also determines how the city obtains and spends funds and appoints members to all advisory municipal activities.
Organization
The Mayor and Council were elected November 8, 2005, and took office on January 2, 2006 (first Monday) for a four-year term, ending January 4, 2010 (first Monday). The next election will be held Tuesday, November 3, 2009.
Meetings
All committees of City Council generally meet as a whole on the Monday before the regular City Council meeting. The Committee of the Whole meets at 5:00 p.m. in the fourth floor conference room of City Hall.
City Council generally holds regular meetings on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Sam J. Welsch Memorial Room (Council Chamber), located on the first floor of City Hall.

Meetings are also available on cable television:
- TV23 - third Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m.
- Cable Channel 25 - last Saturday of every month at 3:00 p.m.
