MISSION STATEMENT

The principal mission of the Marietta Redevelopment Corporation is to strengthen the economic and residential base of the City by revitalizing neighborhoods, commercial areas and other distressed properties. The role of the MRC is to make strategic real estate investments in blighted areas, assemble properties for redevelopment where needed, and partner with the private sector to invest in our community.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The MRC is governed by a 14 member Board of Directors consisting of 12 voting Directors and 2 non-voting members. The Chairman of the City Council Economic/Community Development Committee serves as a voting member. The remaining voting Directors are appointed for two-year terms. In December of 2007, the City Council amended the MRC Bylaws to allow the MRC Board to elect a Chairman and Vice Chairman from among its appointed members. Mayor William B. Dunaway and Samuel S. Olens, Chairman of the Cobb County Commission serve as non-voting members of the board. Marietta's City Manager and Development Services Director, the County Manager and the Superintendent of the Marietta City Schools also serve as non-voting, Ex-Officio members of the Corporation. The MRC Bylaws thus provide representation to elected officials and staff of all three taxing jurisdictions that contribute increment to the City's tax allocation districts.
