The MRC is governed by a 14-member Board of Directors. Voting Directors are appointed by the City Council for two-year terms. The Chairman and Vice Chairman are selected by the voting members of the Board of Directors. The Chairman of the City Council Economic/Community Development Committee serves as a voting member.
The Honorable Mayor William B. Dunaway and Samuel S. Olens, Chairman of the Cobb County Board of Commissioners serve as non voting members. Marietta's City Manager and Development Services Director, the Cobb County Manager and the Superintendent of the Marietta City Schools also serve as non-voting, Ex-Officio members of the Corporation. The MRC Bylaws thus provide representation to elected officials and staff of all three taxing jurisdictions that contribute increment to the City's tax allocation districts.
The MRC has established an Executive Committee and Real Estate Committee that typically meet on months alternate MRC regular business meetings to review and consider agenda items related to MRC finances and asset management. The Real Estate Committee meets as needed to review and analyze development concepts and develop ideas for consideration by the full board. Its members have backgrounds in Real Estate development and building construction. The Executive Committee meetings typically focus on urgent matters related to MRC finances and assets.
