The Support Services Division manages administrative functions that support Uniform Patrol and Investigative Services. Their responsibilities include property and evidence, training, records, accreditation, homeland security, permits, fleet maintenance and public information. The Investigative Services Division is responsible for investigating unsolved crimes, and handling long-term investigations related to gangs, narcotics and other organized crimes. It consists of detectives, forensic technicians, crime analysis and the Crime Interdiction Unit. The Uniform Patrol Division is primarily responsible for responding to calls from the public for service and patrolling the community. It is comprised of three patrol shifts and the Community Response Unit. The shifts respond to all emergency and non-emergency calls 24 hours a day and conduct proactive patrols throughout the community. In addition, prisoner transport officers are members of the shifts. The Community Response Unit (CRU) is responsible for coordinating programs, such as the citizen's academies and the Explorers. The mission of the Marietta Police Department K-9 Unit is to provide highly trained officer teams who serve both the officers of the Marietta Police Department and citizens of Marietta. These well-trained police animals can track lost people, fugitive criminals and articles. They are also adept at building and field searches, criminal apprehension and handler protection.
