The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) presented the City of Marietta with the Distinguished Budget Award for the City's presentation of the budget that ended June 30, 2013. The award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and represents a significant achievement by the City.
How Marietta's Finance Department Received this Award:
- Satisfied nationally recognized effective budget guidelines
- Guidelines are designed to assess how well City's budget serves as policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device
- Marietta's budget must have been rated "proficient" in all four categories
The budget document contains information about the performance of 30 City functions, with a total budget of $289.8 million for FY2014.
This is the 21st year overall, and 19th consecutive year, Marietta has received the award.
