The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) presented Marietta a Certificate of Achievement for its presentation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the budget year ending on June 30, 2012. The award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and represents a significant achievement by the City.
"Every year we send in an application to GFOA with our Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR)," Accounting Manager Beth Keller said. "I couldn't complete this annual audit without my staff and I want to thank the Accounting Department and all the department directors who have provided information to help us produce the financial report."
An international group reviews the City's audit and judge the comprehensiveness of the information in the audit, how it's presented and how easy it is for the public to see understand what the City does with their money and how it's spent.
"It's always an honor to receive an international award," Finance Director Sam Lady said. "Beth and her staff have done an excellent job getting the information together and I truly appreciate the hard work and dedication they give to the City."
This is the 26th consecutive year Marietta has received the award. The City's comprehensive annual financial report is available on the City's website.
