On December 11, Mayor Steve Tumlin and City Council honored the service of outgoing Council Members Annette Paige Lewis (Ward 1), Johnny Sinclair (Ward 3) and Jim King (Ward 6) during the Council's regularly scheduled meeting.
"Annette, Jim and Johnny have served with integrity and are three people I believe we are proud to call friends and fellow Mariettans," Tumlin said. "We cannot thank anyone enough who has given the time and service that they have," he said.
Sinclair served on the Council from 1998-2005 and then came back for another stint of service from 2010-2013. Tumlin said, "Johnny's passion, especially for Marietta's quality of life, has just been a blessing to work with."
King served on the Council from 2002-2013 and previously served on the Marietta Board of Lights and Water. "We're not only losing a great Councilman, but I think our engineers are going to miss him," Tumlin said. "We've had a SPLOST ever since he has served on Council and we spent more than $100 million on streetscape improvements to Roswell and Fairground streets, and you can see Jim's hand in all of it."
Lewis served on the Council from 2006-2013 and previously served on the Marietta School Board and was one of the organizers of the Loop Group Christmas parade. Tumlin said, "Public service is Annette's middle name and between the Council and the Loop Group, she put in a lot of time over the years. The Loop Group neighborhood Christmas parade is one of the best things we have."
Please remember to join the Marietta City Council in thanking Council Members Jim King, Annette Lewis and Johnny Sinclair on Thursday, December 19 with a Reception at the Marietta Fire Department Museum area from 3-5 p.m.
