Council reappoints member to Marietta Development Authority
Marietta City Council reappointed Sterling G. Wharton to Post 3 of the Marietta Development Authority Sept. 11 for a four-year term expiring Sept. 11, 2017.
What is the Marietta Development Authority?
- Established in 1989 to develop and promote trade, commerce, industry and employment opportunities in Marietta for public good and general welfare
- MDA's most frequently used power: issue tax-exempt and taxable industrial development bonds.
- MDA cooperates with local, regional and state agencies to promote business expansion and/or relocation to Marietta
- Helps business and industry clients and prospects in several areas including but not limited to low-cost bond financing, developed industrial sites, available industrial buildings and government permitting/approval process
