Marietta's Police Athletic League (PAL) in partnership with Marietta Youth Empowerment through Learning, Leading and Serving (YELLS) hosted a free clinic July 29 for 28 area youth, where they learned new basketball, golf and volleyball skills.
"The clinic was an opportunity for children to get exposure to sports they may not otherwise get to play," Marietta Police Department's PAL/Franklin Road Programs Coordinator Daneea Badio said. "There are currently no basketball facilities on Franklin Road, and for some it was their first introduction to volleyball and golf," she said. "It's also a wonderful opportunity for youth to interact with police officers in a non-threatening, although pretty competitive, environment."
Children from Kindergarten-10th grade participated in the clinic, which was held at the Lawrence Street Recreation Center, 510 Lawrence St.
