Alice Summerour was first appointed as a non-resident member of the Marietta Board of Lights and Water in 2003, and serves as vice chair of the board and chair of the BLW;s audit committee. She is the chief financial officer and vice president of operations with Summerour Properties.
Summerour is an attorney in Marietta. She earned a master's degree in science with a concentration in economics, and a Bachelor of Science in management from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Summerour is a member of the North Georgia State Fair board, Cobb Housing Authority, and former vice chair of the Cobb County Historic Preservation Commission.
Summerour served as chairman of the Cobb County Heritage Education Committee, which was responsible for developing the first heritage education program for teachers in metro Atlanta. She is a former president of the Leadership Cobb Alumni Association. She is a Marietta Museum of History board member and served on the Leadership Cobb governing board and the Honorary Commanders Association advisory board. She graduated from the 1993 Cobb County Citizen Police Academy, 1994 South Cobb Leadership Institute, 1998 Leadership Cobb and 2006 Honorary Commanders. She is active in the Kiwanis Club of Marietta, where she is a distinguished past president, Hixson Fellow and 1999 and 2002 Kiwanian of the Year.
She currently serves as vice chairman of the WellStar Kennestone Hospital Regional Health board and chairman of the 2005 one percent sales tax citizens oversight committee.
Summerour has been involved with various civic organizations including the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art, Georgia Tech Alumni Association and the American Cancer Society. She has received several awards including a 2003 Honoree for the YWCA's Tribute to Women of Achievement, 2006 Marietta Kiwanis Club Field of Flags Patriot Award, and the 2008 and 2009 Cobb Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Membership awards.
She is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and Cobb Chamber of Commerce. She is a sixth generation Cobb County native, an eighth generation Georgia native and enjoys raising quarter horses.
