After serving as a citizen member on our board of directors from 2003 until 2004, Bob Lewis became general manager for the Marietta Board of Lights and Water on June 7, 2004.
Lewis has more than 30 years experience in the energy business with Mirant Corporation, Southern Energy and Georgia Power Company in Atlanta, where he served in numerous management and executive capacities, including director of external affairs, project director, marketing manager and general manager. As general manager for the BLW, he brings extensive experience in both regulated and unregulated energy companies.
A Marietta native, he received his Bachelor and Masters of Business Administration from Georgia State University and is a member of the Georgia State University Alumni Association.
Lewis is a graduate of Leadership Cobb and is a member of the Marietta Rotary Club, Cobb Chamber of Commerce and First United Methodist Church. He was elected to the board of directors of the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia (MEAG) for a second three-year term in 2008. He also serves on the board of directors for the Tommy Nobis Center and the Center for Family Resources.
He and his wife, Laura, a media specialist at West Side Elementary School, live in Marietta. They have two grown daughters, Mary Leslie and Sarah.
