As the largest municipal electric utility in Georgia, Marietta Power & Water is a community-owned utility serving more than 45,000 electric customers and 17,000 water and sewer services customers. Marietta Power & Water was created by the city of Marietta in 1906 to provide low-cost electricity and water to the citizens of Marietta and Cobb County.

A board comprised of city and county citizens governs the actions of Marietta Power & Water, ensuring that all utility customers are represented and the economic benefits of the utility are retained by the community.
Marietta Power & Water is a member of the American Public Power Association (APPA), which is comprised of 2,000 non-profit, publicly owned and operated utilities in the United States serving more than 43 million customers.
